I picked up my first camera because of my dad. I appreciated the art of it all because of my mom. Yet I fell in love with it because of the individuals and families I've worked with over the years. I love capturing anything and everything because, as cheesy as it may sound, I love getting the snapshot of a memory.

Between my mom and dad, I honestly don't feel I had a chance to have a passion for anything that didn't involve the arts. My father was a hobbyist photographer, cook, and writer. My mother was a talented actress and self taught artist. I don't believe I even realized just how much of an influence they had on my biggest passions in life until I had to write this "about me" section.

When I was a kid I always loved the photos and videos my dad captured. Every year he would have my sister, brother and I dress up to take our photo to give to our mom. I will never forget the look on his face the first year we three went to a professional photographer and surprised my dad with a canvas print of us for Christmas. It was one of very few times I had ever seen my dad tear up. It's a moment I truly wish I had captured.

In 2009 my father passed away from pancreatic cancer. To this day it was the hardest loss I've ever experienced. I searched for any photos I could find to keep the memories safe. It was as if I was finding a way to keep him around and feel like he wasn't completely gone. I knew then how grateful I was for all of the photos he made us pose for over the years because each one brought back a different memory of him. Something I wouldn't get to do again with him.
